Procedure
Ex ampl e: To prevent inter i or verti ces f r om being
passed up the stack:
1.
Create an NGon in wireframe mode: Create
panel>Shapes>Splines>ObjectTyperollout
>NGon.
2. Open the Modify panel and convert the
NGon to an editable mesh by right-clicking
the stack display and choosing Convert to >
Editable Mesh.
3. In the stack display (or in the Selection rollout),
choose the Polygon sub-object mode.
4. Choose Edit > O bject Propert ies to display the
Object Prop erties dialog.
5. Turn on Vertex Ticks. Choose OK to close the
dialog.
6. Click Cut under the Edit G eometry rollout, an d
makeacutfromonesideoftheNGontothe
other. Notice that an interior ver tex now exists.
Note: DoingthisonanNGondoesntalways
generate an interior vertex.
7. Apply the Turn To Poly modifier: Modify panel
> Modifier List > Turn To Poly. Notice the
interior vertex clears.

Keep Polygons Convex—Does not join across edges
if the resulting polygon would not be convex.
"Convex" means that you can connect any two
points in the polygon with a line that doesnt go
outside the polygon. A polygon is not convex if
you can draw a l ine between vertices and that line
lays outside of the polygon.
Problems that can o ccur with non-convex
polygons include t he fac t that changes in the
geometry of the input object can result in a
different topology for the Turn To Poly result.
For instance, in a box, if you drag one of the top
cornersacrossthemiddleofthetopface,thebox
becomes non-conv ex. Turn To P oly would then
seethisastwotrianglesinsteadofonequad,and
the number of points in the result would change.
Limit Polygon Size—Limits the number of sides to a
polygon so that the surface is better defined. For
example, you might want to produce a polymesh
of triangles and quads, or one composed of all
