To smooth an object:
1.

2. On the Modifiers menu, cho os e Mesh
Editing > Smooth.
3. Tur n on Auto Smo ot h a nd adj ust the Thres hold
for the desired smoothing effect.
To apply smoothi ng gr oups manua lly :
1.
Select an object.
2. Use a
Mesh Select modifier (p age 1–710)
to select the faces to be smoothed.
3. Click a numbered button to apply the
corresponding smoothing group to the selected
faces.

Auto S mooth—If A uto Smooth is selected, the
object is auto-smoothed using the (animatable)
threshold specified by the Threshold setting below
it.AutoSmoothsetsthesmoothinggroupsbased
on the ang le b etween faces. Any two adjacent faces
areputinthesamesmoothinggroupiftheangle
between their normals is less than the threshold
angle.
Prevent Indi rect S moothing—Tur n on to pre vent
smoothing ’leaks" when using Auto Smooth. If
you apply Auto Smooth to an object, and portions
of that object that should not be smoothed
becomesmoothed,thenturnonPreventIndirect
Smoothing to see if it corrects the problem.
Note: This option has an effect only when Auto
Smooth is selected. The problem it corrects is rare,
and turning on Prevent Indirect Smoothing slows
the Auto Smooth process. Don’t use this option
unless you see something wrong with your existing
smoothing.
Threshold—Specifies the threshold angle in
degrees. Any two adjacent faces are put in the
same smo othing group if the ang le between their
normalsislessthanthethresholdangle.
Smoothing Grou ps group
The g rid of 32 buttons shows w hich smoothing
groups are used by the selec ted faces, and are used
to assign smoothing g roups manually to selected
faces.

Object–Space Modifiers > Spherify
Select an object. > Modifiers menu > Parametric
Deformers > Spherify
The Spherify modifier distorts an object into
a spherical shape. This modifier has only one
parameter: a Percent spinner that deforms the
object, as much as possible, into a spherical shape.
