Weight Properties group
Abs. Effect—Enter an absolute weight for the
selected bone to selected vertices.
Choose the Envelope sub-object level, turn on
Ver tices in the Parameters rollout > Select g roup,
select a vertex or vertices, and then use the Abs.
Effect spinner to assign weight. Selected vert ices
move in the viewports as their weight changes.
Rigid—Causes selected vert ices to be influenced
only by one bone, the one with the most influence.
Rigid Handles—Causes the handles of selected
patch vertices to be influenced by only one bone,
the one with the most i nfluence.
Normalize—Forces the total weights of each
selected vertex to add up to 1.0.
Exclude S el ected Vert s—Take s t h e c u r r ent l y
selected vertices and adds them to the exclusion
list for the cur rently selected bone. Any vert ices in
this exclusion list will not be affected by this bone.
Include Sel ected V er ts —Take s t h e s el e c te d
vertices out of the exclusion list for the selected
bone. The b one can then affect these vertices.
Select Exclude Verts—Take s t he c ur rentl y
excluded vertices and selects them.
Bake Selected Verts—Click to bake the
current vertex weights. Baked weights are not
affected by envelope changes, only by changes to
Abs. Effect or weig hts in t he Weight Table.
Weight Tool—Displays the
Wei g ht To ol
dialog (page 1–796)
, which offers control tools
to help you assign and blend weights on selected
vertices.
Weigh t Tabl e —Displays a table for viewing and
changing weights for all bones in the skeletal
structure. See
Weig ht Table (page 1–799)
.
Pai n t Wei gh t s —Click and drag the cursor over
vertices in the viewports to brush on weights for
the selec ted bone.
Tip: You can streamline the painting process
by using the
Brush Presets tools (page 3–737)
.
Painter Options [ellipsis]—Click this button
to display the Painter Options dialog, where
parameters for weig ht p ainting can be set. See
Painter Options dialog (page 1–801)
.
Paint B lend Weights—When on, blends painted
values by averaging the weig hts of neighboring
vertices and then applying the average weight
based on the brush strength. Default=on.
