The optimal crease angle depends on the model;
setitinteractivelyandchecktheviewportand
rendered images for shading effects. While use of
Multiple Vertex Normals enables more accurate
shading, it can require more internal data.
Generate—AppliesthecurrentMultiRessettings
to the modified object. When you first apply
MultiRes to an object, you must use Generate to
initi alize the mesh-optimizing algorithm before
you can change the vertex count.
Reset—Sets all G eneration Parameters rollout
settings to their values as of the last time you used
Generate. Available only when one or more of
these sett ings has changed.
Use Reset to review the generation parameters as
of the last time you generated the mesh.

The Noise modifier modulates the position of an
object’s vertices along any combination of three
axes. This important animation tool simulates
random variations in an object’s shape.
Using a fractal setting, you can achieve random,
rippling patterns, like a flag in the wind. With
fractal settings, you can also create mountainou s
terrain from flat geometry.

object. The Noise gizmo changes shape to help
you visualize the effects of changing parameter
settings. The results of t he Noise mo difier are most
noticeable on objects that have greater numbers
of faces.
Most of the Noise parameters hav e an animation
controller. The only keys set by default are for
Phase.
