Views menu > Deactivate All Maps
Deactivate A ll Maps turns off the Show Map In
Viewport flag for al l materials assigned to the
scene.
To undo this act ion, use Views menu > Activate All
Maps. This will turn on the maps for al l materials.
If you only want to turn on individual maps, you
need to turn on Show Map in Viewport in the
Material Editor.
Update Dur ing S pinner Dr ag
Views menu > Update During Spinner Drag
When Up date Dur ing Spinner Drag is on, dragg ing
a spinner (such as a Radius spinner for a sphere)
updates the effects in real t ime in the viewpor ts.
Default=on.
When Upd ate During Spinner Drag is off, the
effect is updated after the drag, w hen you release
the mouse. Use this option when you’re adjusting
processor-intensive controls.
Exper t Mode
Views menu > Exper t Mode
Keyboard > CT RL+X
WhenExpertmodeison,thetitlebar,toolbar,
command panel, status bar, and all of the viewport
navigation buttons are removed from the display,
leaving only the menu bar, time slider, and
viewports. Use Exper t mo de when you need to
view your composition alone without the rest of
the interface.
With the ability to customize the user interface
in 3ds Max, you can create your own versions
of Expert mode by hiding whatever you want
item-by-item. Expert mode is only a quick way to
hide everything that can be hidden at once.

and then use these while in Expert mode. You can
also use the quad menu to access tools quickly in
Exper t mode as well.
Procedures
To tur n on Ex pert mode, do one of the following:
•ChooseViewsmenu>ExpertMode.
•PressCTR L +X.
To tur n off Ex per t mode and r eturn to f ull display,
do one of the fol lowing:
• Click the Cancel Expert Mode button to the
right of the time slider.
•PressCTR L +X.
•ChooseViewsmenu>ExpertMode.
