Select by Hair Ends [H]—Yo u c a n s e l e c t o n l y
the vertex at the end of each guide hair.
Select Whole Strand [J]—Selecting any vertex
on a guide hair selects all vertices on the guide
hair. When you first open the Style dialog, Hair
activatesthismodeandselectsallverticesofall
guide hairs.
Select by Vertex [K]—You can select any
vertices on a guide hair.
Select by R oot [L]—You can select only the
vertex at the root of each guide hair, and doing so
selects a ll vertices on the gu ide hair.
Styling m odes
Brush mode [B]—In this mode, dragging the
mouse affects only selected vert ices within the
circular brush area.
The brush size defaults to that of the last selec tion
area. To resize the brush, press and hold the B key
andmovethemouse.Thebrushcirclechanges
size as you do so, setting the r adius to the distance
you move the mouse with B held down. When the
brush is the desired size, release the B key.
Note: Pressing and releasing the B key always places
you in Brush mode.
Dra g mode—All selected vertices are affected
by dragging the mouse.

Shake mode—Non-interactively shakes
guide hairs with selected vertices, giving them a
wavy motion and pulling the ends downward with
respect to the current orientation of the view in the
Style dialog window. While Shake mode is active,
rotating the v iew (ALT+MMB drag) re-shakes the
hairs. To halt the shaking process and exit to Select
mode, press ESC .

direction that you drag the mouse.
Stand—Pushes selected guides toward a
