The Alig n flyout, available from the
Main toolbar

, provides access to six different
tools for aligning objects. These are, from top to
bottom:

of the Align dialog. When performing sub-object
alignment, the title bar of the Alig n dialog reads
"Align Sub-Object Select ion."
You can align the position and orientation of the
bounding box (page 3–1013)
of the source object
to the bounding box of a target object.
You can use the Align tool with any selection that
canbetransformed.Ifanaxistripodisdisplayed,
you can align the tripod (and the geometr y it
represents) to any other object in the scene. You
canusethistoalignanobject’spivotpoint.
When performing sub-object alignment, the
Current Object options and the Match Scale boxes
are disabled. If you plan to align or ientation for
sub-objects, first switch to Local tr ansform mode
on the Main toolbar so that the axis tripo d is
properly aligned with your sub-object selection.

Interface (page 1–449)
The Align dialog enables you to align the cur rent
selection to a target selection. The name of the
target object appears in the title bar of the Align
dialog. When p er forming sub-object alignment,
the title bar of the Align dialog reads "Align
Sub-Object Selection."
