UsetheSelectandRotatebuttontoselectand
rotate objects.
To rotate a single object, you don’t need to select it
first. When this button is active, clicking an object
selects it and dragging the mouse rotates it.
When you are rotating an object about a single
axis(asisusuallythecase),don’trotatethe
mouse, expec ting t he object to follow the mouse
movement. Ju st move the mouse straig ht up and
straight dow n. Up rotates the object one way,
down rotates it the opposite way.
To restrict rotation about the X, Y, or Z axis, or
to any two axes, click the appropriate button on
the
Axis Constraints toolbar (page 3–735)

Procedure
This procedure illustrates the intuitive usage of

Euler XYZ rotation controller (page
2–312)
.
To animate object rotation interactively:
1.
Add an object.
2. Move the
time
slider (page 3–748)
to a frame other than 0 and
turn on
Auto Key (page 3–760)
.
3. Choose Select And Rotate.
4. Rotate the object on any axis by any amount.
5. Movethetimeslidertoalaterframe.
6. Rotate the object on the same axis by an amount
greater than 180 degrees.
7. Play back the animation.
The rotation plays back exactly as you recorded
it.
