To display the Color S elector :
1.
Click the color swatch of a color parameter
such as the color of a light or of a material
component.
Note: The object color displayed by an object’s
name in command panels use a different,
Object Color dialog (page 1–155) .IntheObject
Color dialog, clicking the Current Color swatch
or the Add Custom Colors button displays a
Color Selector.
2. Make a color selection and click Close.
3. To ke e p t he or i g i n a l c o lo r, c l i c k Re s e t .
To choose th e hue of a color, do one of the foll owing:
• Click the Hue rainbow.
• Drag the Hue slider at the top of the rainbow.
• Drag the Red, Green, and Blue sliders.
•DragtheHueslider.
• Use the Red, Green, Blue, or Hue spinners.
To mak e a color lighter, do one of the following:
• Drag the vertical Whiteness slider (at the right
of the Hue r ainbow) downward.
• Drag the ver tical Blackness slider (at the left of
the Hue rainbow) upward.
• Drag the Saturation (Sat.) slider to the left.
• Use the Saturation spinner to decrease
saturation.
• Dr a g t h e Va lu e ( Va l . ) s l i d e r t o t h e r i g ht .
• Use the Value spinne r to increase the value.
To ma k e a color d ar k er, do one of the fol lowing:
• Drag the vertical Whiteness slider (at the right
of the Hue rainbow) upward.
• Drag the ver tical Blackness slider (at the left of
the Hue rainb ow) dow nward.
• Drag the Saturation (Sat.) slider to the right.
• Use the Saturation spinner to increase
saturation.
• Dr a g t h e Va lu e ( Va l . ) s l i d e r t o t h e le f t .
• Use the Value spinner to decrease the value.
To r etur n to the ori ginal color:
•ClickReset.
The new color is replaced by the original color,
and all parameter values are reset.
To dismiss the Color S elector, do one of the following:
•ClickClose.
• Click the dialog’s Close (X) button.
Interf ace
Hue—Defineapurecolorbydraggingthehue
pointer across the top of the box.
Blackness—Drag the blackness pointer down the
side to darken the pure color by adding black. You
can also click or drag inside the box to change hue
and blackness at the same time.
Whitenes s—Theverticalbartotherightcontrols
the amount of whiteness. The color set by the hue
and blackness pointers is displayed at the top of
thebarandpurewhiteatthebottom. Dragthe
whiteness pointer down to lighten the color by
adding white.
Red, Green, a nd B lu e—Whenared,green,orblue
slider is all the way to the left, its field reads 0. None
