Refine group
These buttons refine the surface by adding CVs .
Asyoumovethemouseoverthesurface,apreview
of the CVs that wi ll be added, and their locations,
is displayed in blue.
Wa rni ng: When you add CVs with Refine, you lose the
animation controllers for all CVs on the surface.
Row—
Adds a row of CVs to the surface.
Co l.Adds a column of CVs to the surface.
BothAdds both a row and a column of CVs to
the surface.
Tip: It is a good idea to reparameterize after you
have added CVs to a surface by refining. See
Editing Surface Sub-Objects (page 1–1142)
.
Insert group
These buttons insert CVs into the curve. Click
to turn on one of these buttons and then click
thesurfacewhereyouwanttoinsertthenew
CVs. Insert ing CVs is similar to refining with
CVs, except that other CVs in the surface do not
move. This means that the shape of the surface can
change when you insert.
Inserting C Vs does not remove anim ation from
thesurfacethewayrefiningdoes.
Row—Inserts a row of CVs into the surface.
Co l.InsertsacolumnofCVsintothesurface.
BothInserts both a row and a column of CVs
into the surface.
Tip: It is a good idea to reparameterize after you
have added CVs to a surface by inser ting. See
Editing Surface Sub-Objects (page 1–1142)
.
Display LatticeWhen on, displays the
control
lattice (page 3–1017)
that surrounds CV surfaces.
When off, the control lattice isnt shown in
viewports. Default=on.

Editing Curve Sub-Objects
Modify panel > Stack display > Open the NURBS object’s
hierarchy. > Curve sub-object level > Select curve
sub-objects.
This topic describes the cont rols that are common
topointandCVcurves.ArolloutlabeledCurve
Common contains the curve sub-object controls
for NURBS models.
Procedures
To transform curves:
1.
At the Curve sub-object level, select one or
more curves.
The sub-object selection tools are the same as
for other kinds of sub-objects. You can also
use the H key when the status bar’s Keyboard
Shortcut Override Toggle button is on. See
Sub-Object S election (page 1–1086)
.
The Selection group box, described under
"Interface" later in this topic, provides
additional options for selecting curves.
2. Turn on Move or another transform and then
drag in a viewport to transform the selection.

Tip: The Lock Selection Set button is useful
when you transform NURBS cur ve sub-objects.
You can make a selection in one viewport, click
