Select By Name lets you select objects by choosing
them from a list of all objects in the scene.

Region

When dragging the mouse to select one or more
objects, the Region options let you switch between
selecting objects within, or crossed by, a window
region that you draw w ith the mouse. Choose the
appropriate Region submenu command, or use the
Window/Crossing Selection Togg le (page 1–88)
on the Status bar.
You can automatically switch between Window
and Crossing Region Selection based on cursor
movement direction. To set this up, choose
Customize > Preferences and on the General
tabintheSceneSelectiongroupturnonAuto
Window/Crossing Selection by Direction.

Select Region Window selects only those objects completely
inside the w indow : the trash can and bench.

After you choose this command, draw a selection
region around any objects in the scene. Only those
objects that are entirely inside the region boundary
are selected.
Procedure
To select objects within a selection region:
1.
Do one of the following:
• Choose Edit > Region > Window.
•Clickthe
Window/Crossing Selection Toggle
(page 1–88)
to display the W indow icon.
2. From the Main toolbar, click the
Selection
Region flyout (page 1–80)
and cho ose a
method: Rectangular, Circular, Fence or Lass o
Selection region.
