Clear Frame Window Before R ender—
When on,
before rendering the
rendered frame window
(page 3–5)
turns to a gray shade by clearing every
other scanline. This makes it easier to see the
progress of rendering. On the other hand, it can
make it harder to see the effect of small changes to
the model or the view. D efault=on.
Messages group
Open Message Window on Error—Whenever the
mental ray renderer detects an error, it generates
anerrormessage. Whenthisoptionison,the
Messages Window is displayed and the error
message appears in it. Default=off.
Show/Log Information M essages—When on,
displays informational messages in the Messages
Window . Default=off.
Show/Log Pr ogress Messa ges—When on, displays
progress messages in the Messages Window.
Default=off.
Log Debug Messages (to file)—When on, writes
debugmessagestothelogfile,ifonehasbeen
specified. Default=off.
Debug messages are never displayed in the
Messages Window. The mental ray renderer
generates a large number of them, which would
make the window hard to read.
Wri te Messa ges to Fil e—When on, generates a
mental ray
log file (page 3–1058)
.Default=off.
The other log file options are una vailable unless
you tu rn on Write Messages To File:
Append to File—When on, appends messages to
the existing file. When off (or if the name d file
is not fou nd), only new messages are written to
the fi le. Default=off.
FileClick to display a file dialog that lets you
choose the name and location of the .
log
file.

file, this field shows its name and its path.
Animation Preferences
Customize m enu > Preferences > Preference Settings

On the Animation panel of the Preference Settings
dialog, you set options relating to
animation (page
3–1003)
. Options include displaying animated
objects in wireframe viewports, the assignment of
sound plug-ins, and controller defaults.
Procedures
To change the default transform center:
1.
Choose Customize menu > Preferences >
Preference Settings dialog > Animation tab.
2. Turn off Local Center During Animate in the
Animate group.
This changes the default and ac tivates all the
transform center buttons. You can now move
about the selection, coordinate center, or local
pivot.
To set the k ey bracket display:
1.
Choose Customize menu > Preferences >
Preference Settings dialog > Animation tab.
2. UsethecontrolsintheKeyBracketDisplay
group to specify how you want k ey brackets
displayed in wireframe viewports.
To specify default controller settings:
1.
Choose Customize menu > Preferences >
Preference Settings dialog > Animation tab.
2. Click S et Defaults in the Controller Defaults
group.
The Set Controller Defaults dialog appears.
