All the default UI files begin with the base
file name
defaultui
. When y ou choose
defaultui.cui
, all default U I scheme files wi l l
load.
To start the software with a custom user interf ace:
1.
Arrangetheuserinterfaceasyouwouldlikeit
to appear when you start 3ds Max.
2. Choose Customize menu > Save Custom UI
Scheme, and save your custom UI scheme with
thebasefilename
maxstart
.
Thenexttimeyoustart3dsMax,thesoftware
willstartwiththecurrentUIscheme.
Note: IftheSaveUIConfigurationOnExit
option on the Customize menu > Preferences >
General tab (page 3–859)
is tur ned on (which
it is by default), the state of the user interface
when you close t he program will overwrite the
maxstart
UI scheme files.
To star t the software with a custom user inter face
fr om the command l ine:
1.
Save your custom UI scheme with a descriptive
base file name with the
Save Custom UI Scheme
dialog (page 3–850)
.
2. Right-click the 3ds Max icon on the Windows
desktop, and choose Properties.
3. In the Target field, change 3dsm a x.exe to
3dsma x.exe -c, followed by the name of your
.cui
file.
Example: 3dsmax .exe -c my file.cui .Besureto
leaveaspacebothbeforeandafterthe-c.
If you want to move t he UI scheme to a different
computer, copy all the files in the
3dsmax\UI\
folder that star t with the custom UI scheme base
name to the new
3dsmax\UI\
folder. Alternately,
you can add the path name to the command line.
To save a single UI scheme file:
1.
Choose Customize menu >
Customize User
Interface (page 3–836)
.
2. Access the panel for the type of user interface
item you want to save.
3. On the panel, click Save.
To change the icon display from Classic to 2D Black
and White:
1.
Choose Customize menu > Save Custom UI
Scheme, enter a filename, and click Save.
2. On the Custom Scheme dialog, next to Icon
Typ e, choose the typ e of icon you want to
display.
3. Click OK to close the dialog and save the
scheme.
4. Choose Customize menu > L oad Custom UI
Scheme and then open the UI scheme you just
saved.
Load Custom U I Scheme
Customize menu > Load Custom UI Scheme
OntheLoadCustomUISchemedialog,you
specify the base file name of the custom UI scheme
you want to lo ad. You can select any type of UI
scheme file from the dialog, and the software will
load any other type of UI scheme files with the
same base file name.
To save a custom UI scheme, use the
Save Custom
UI Scheme dialog (page 3–850)
.
