820 Chapter 21: User Interface
Note:
You c annot unfreeze objects on a frozen
layer. If you select an object on a frozen layer, you
w i ll be prompted to unfreeze the object’s layer.
Hide Frozen Obj ects—Toggles display of frozen
objects on and off. You don’t have to unfreeze
objectstohidethem;youcanuseHideFrozen
Objects instead to hide or unhide frozen objects
in a single step.
Object Level panel
Hide by Category group
Togg les t he display of objects by their category
(objects, cameras, lights, and so on). Choose the
check b oxes to hide objects of that category. Use
the All , None, andInver t buttons to change the
settings of the check boxe s.
Display Properties group
Provides controls that alter the display of selected
objects.
Display a s B ox—Toggles the display of selected
objects, including 3D objects, 2D shapes, and
particle systems, as
bounding b oxe s (page 3–1013)
.
Produces minimum geometric complexity.
Part icle systems appear as bounding boxes when
adaptive degradation takes effect. Since particle
systems naturally exist in world space, their
bounding box is always oriented parallel to the
world planes.
Backface Cull—Toggles the display of faces with
normals (page 3–1074)
pointing away from view .
When selected, you see through the wireframe to
the back faces.
Edges Only—Toggles the display of hidden edges
and polygon
diagonals (page 3–1022)
.Whenon,
only outside edges appear. When off, all mesh
geometry appears. Applies to Wireframe view por t
display mode, as well as other modes with Edged
Faces turned on.
Vertex Ticks—Displays the vertices in the selected
geometry as tick marks.
If the current selection has no displayed tick
marks, the check box is clear. If
some
of the
vertices in the current selec tion display tick marks,
thecheckboxcontainsagrayX.Ifallverticesin
the c urrent selection display tick marks, the check
box contains a black X.
Traje ctory—Toggles
trajectory display (page
3–1119)
for the selected object so you can display
its trajectory wherever you are in the software.
See-Thr ough—When tur ned on, this togg le makes
the object or selection t r anslucent i n view p orts.
This setting has no effect on rendering: it simply
