Roll Light
Activate a light viewport. > V iewport navigation controls
>RollLight
Roll Lig ht rotates the light about its own line of
sight (the light’s local Z axis).
Although Roll does change the light v iew, it affects
thelightobjectonlyifthelightcastsarectangular
beam or is a
projector (page 3–1092)

Rolling a light
Drag the mouse horizontally to roll a target light
or rotate a free light about its local Z axis.
This button replaces the Zoom Extents button
whenalightviewportisactive.
Procedure
To r oll a light:
1.
Activate a Light viewport.
2. Click Roll Light.
The button highlights when it is on.
3. Drag horizontally to roll the view.
4. Press ESC or right-click to t urn off the button.
Light Falloff
Activate a Light viewport. > Viewport navigation controls
>LightFalloff
Light Falloff adjusts the angle of a light’s
falloff
(page 3–1048)

Region button when a light viewport is active.
The light has a nar row hotspot but a w ide falloff area.
Mak ing the fall off even wider illu m inates a larger area.
Click Light Falloff, then move the mouse in the
lightviewporttomakethefalloffnarroweror
wider(thefalloffextentsareshowningray,the
hotspot (page 3–1048)
is in blue).
Hold dow n the CTRL key while moving the mouse
tolocktheinitialangleseparationofthehotspot
and falloff cones.
