is turned on, this option will be disabled. If the

Over r id e Light Obj ect S ettings—Choose this
option to use the following check box es to set the
luminaire processing options. The 3ds Max light
object settings will be overridden.

Cast Shadows—When on, turns on the
Lightscape Cast Shadows processing option for
all luminaires. If you disable this option, light
energy is distributed to each surface as if there
were no other surfaces blocking it.

Store Dir ect I llumination—When on, turns on
theLightscapeStoreDirectIlluminationtoggle
forallluminaires.Thiscausesilluminationto
be stored in the radiosit y mesh. If you disable
this option, only indirect lighting will be
calculated; direct illumination from the lights
will not appear in the radiosity solution.

R aytrace Direct I llumination—When on, turns
ontheLightscapeRaytraceDirectIllumination
toggle for all luminaires. This causes light to be
sampled when Lightscape raytraces the model
for rendering. Ray-traced direct illuminat ion
can improve shadow quality.
Tip: In general, it is a good idea to give Store
Direct Illumination and R ayt race Direct
Illumination opposite values: turn off one when
the other is on. If you ray-trace lights that are
also stored, then Lightscape must perform the
additional step of removing energy from the
mesh before it begins ray-tracing.

Thispanelisusedtosettheanimationparameters
for the 3ds Max scene. You can export a Lightscape
preparation file for multiple frames in a 3ds Max
model. The default behavior will export the
currentframeintothefileyouchoseintheSelect
File To Export dialog.
If you choose one of the other options, the frame
numberisappendedtothenameyouchosein
theSelectFileToExportdialog.Iftheexportwill
overwrite any preparation files, a single warning
w i ll b e displayed for the first file found.
Interfa ce
Current Frame—Exports a single file for the current
frame.
