• Single—Asinglelayeriscreatedandallsurfaces
are put on that layer. When this setting is
used, the Name field is enabled. You can
enterthenameofthesinglelayerinthisfield.
Default=The name of the expor ted file (with no
file name extension).
•
Mater ial—A layer is created for each exported
material. Surfaces are assigned to layers based
onthematerialassignedtothesurface.
Quadrilaterals group
This group gives you more control over the
geometry exported to Lightscape.
Length Tol erance—The tolerance between points
that wi ll be welded together when forming
quadrilaterals. Points closer than this distance are
welded.Thedistanceisgivenintheunitsselected
in the Master Units drop-down list. This value
becomes the Length Tolerance in Lightscape.
Triangles—When chosen, no quadrilaterals are
formed.
Mesh Quads—When chosen, only quadrilaterals
that are in the mesh are formed, but only if they fit
the criteria that Lightscape uses for quadrilaterals.
•
Force—Enabled only when Mesh Q uads is
chosen. If it is on, then quadrilaterals in the
mesh will be formed even if they don’t fit the
Lightscape cr iteria.
Any Quads—When chosen, tr iangles can be used
to form quadrilaterals, as long as they are planar,
convex quadrilaterals that fit the criteria that
Lightscape uses for quadrilaterals.
Don’ t allow Lightsca pe to change geometry—When
this is on, flags are set to prevent Lightscape from
modifying the geometry when it is initialized to
start t he solution.
Note: This option is available only for recent
patches of Lightscape. The most recent patch is
available at ftp://ftp1.discreet.com/web/support/
lightscape/short_sizes2.zip. When you run the
patched Lightscape, you can use the new controls
Preserve Polygons and Condition Polygons. These
are located on the Layer Table Context menu.
Turning on Preserve Polygons preserves the
geometry layout in the LP file; it is the Lightscape
counterparttoDon’tAllowLightscapeToChange
Geometry in the LP exporter. Turning on
Condition Polygons restores the behavior to the
default for t he currently selected layers.
Textures group
Don’ t S ave Tex ture Data—Prevents textures from
being exported w ith materials.
Relative Texture Paths—Specifies whether or not
texture path names will be output as relat ive or
absolute paths. If this option is off, the exporter
will output absolute texture paths. If this option is
on, the exporter will output relative paths.
The texture path list the exporter writes always
contains the directories specified on the
External
Files panel (page 3 –855)
of the Configure U ser
Paths dialog. When you turn on Relative Texture
Paths, additional relative paths are added to the
texture path list stored by Lightscape.
Aver a ge Tex t ur e Color —Selects the material color
the exporter will use for texture-mapped materials.
If this option is off, the exporter sets the color of
texture-m apped materials to the original diffuse
colorofthe3dsMaxmaterial.Ifthisoptionison,
