XRef Object Rollout
Select an XRef object. > Mo dify panel > XRef Object
rollout
When you’ve selected a n XRef object in a scene,
the X Ref Object rollout appears along with the
Proxy Object rollout (page 3–423)
on the Modify
panel. ThemodifierstackfortheXRefobject
simply displays “XRef Object.
Inter face
XRef group
Theitemshereletyouchangethefilepath,file
name, a nd object name of the source of the XRef
object. From here, you can also assign proxy
objects to appear in the viewport or the r endered
scene.
Impor tant: The specified file must contain an object
of the specified name, or no XRef object will a ppear
in your scene. Instead, a small, yellow x appears as a
placeholder.

File Name f ieldDisplays the path and file name
of the
.max
filecontainingthesourceoftheXRef
object. You can edit this to point to a different path
and file.
File name display—Displaysthefilenameonly,
w ithout the path.
Path button—Click to display a file dialog
from which you can specify a different path and
file name for the source fi le.
Object Name fi eld—Displays the name of the source
object pointed to in the source file.
Object Name di splay Displays the name of the
source object.
Path button—Displays an
XRef Merge dialog
