Merging an XRef object loads the full modifier
stack of the original object into the target scene
(your current scene), while maintaining any
additional stack items that were added while the
objectwasanXRef.Thus,youcanuseMergeIn
Scene to update an object that has been modified
as an XRef.
Conver t S el ected Object(s ) as X R ef—Creates a
source file for the cur rently highlighted objects.
This means that you can highlight entities in the
current scene, including mate rials, and then save
themtoascenefile.Thisfileisthenlistedasan
XRef record that contains only the entities you
high lighted.

Right-click the list of XRef entities (objects and materials).

right-click the lower list of entities (objects and
mater ials) this pop-up menu appears. It g ives you
some further options for managing the list.

so you can add entities to the list.
If all entities in the source scene are already
XRefed, this choice has no effect.
Delete XR ef Entity Deletes the entities w hose
names are highlighted.
A prompt asks if you really want to delete these
XRefs.
Select—Selectstheobjectswhosenamesare
highlighted.
Select by Name—Opens the Select Objects dia log ,
which lists all objects and highlights t hose who se
names are highlighted in the entities list.
Highlight S elected Object’s XR efs—When XRef
objects are selected in the scene, this choice
highlights their entries in the entities list.
Highlight All—Highlights all entities in the list.
Highlight Inverse—Inverts the current set of entities
that are highlig hted.
Highlight NoneTu r n s of f highl i ght ing for all
entities in the list.
List Objects—Toggles display of XRef objects in
the list.
List Materials—Toggles display of XRef materials
in the l ist.
The state of List Objects and List Materials is the
same as the state of the toolbar buttons in the XRef
Objects dialog. Changing the state in the menu
changes the button state, and vice versa.
Merge in SceneMerges the current selection in
the XRef Entities list into the target s cene (the
currentscene).UsethisbuttontochangeXRef
objects or materials into objects that are native
to the current scene. The connection between
theobjectinthesourcesceneandinyourtarget
scene is broken, and the object or material that
you merged is no longer updated when the source
scene changes.

Apply XR ef Ma teria l(s) to Object(s)—Applies the
original, XRefed material to t he high li ghted
