XRef Entities list
Displays the XRef objects and materials that belong
to the record that is currently highlighted in the
XRef Record list. If no source file is highlighted,
this list is empty.
Right-clicking the XRef Entities list displays a
pop-up menu (page 3–415)
that has further
options for managing the list and the objects and
mater ials in it.
This list contains the following information for
each XRef entity:
Scene Name—Name of the ent ity in the target
(current) scene. By default, the name of the entity
in the target scene is the same as the name of the
entityinthesourcefile.Ifyouchangethename
of the entity on the
command p anel (page 3–800)
and then click Refresh, the name will update in the
XRef Entities list.
Sour ce Name—Name of the entity in the source file.
You cannot change this name from the target file.
If the name of the entity changes in the source file,
the XRef in the master file will b e come unresolved.
Ty pe —Whether the entity is an XRef object or
mater ial.
Status—Usually this field displays “XRef Resolved”
to indicate that the XRef is valid. When an XRef is
unresolved this field displays “Unresolved!” An
unresolved XRef indicates t hat there is no longer a
connect ion between the entity in your master file
and the source file. This can happen for a number
of reasons. For example, the entity in the source
file might have been renamed or deleted.
Note: If you resolve the cross reference the XRef
w i ll be resolved again when you click Update.
Prox y—Whether a proxy is enabled for the entity.
YouenableanddisableproxiesforXRefentitieson
the Proxy Object rollout. Displays “–––” when the
proxy is disabled and “Enabled” when the proxy
is enabled.
You c an assign a proxy object using the
Proxy
Object rollout (page 3–423)

Prox y Render —Whether the proxy will be used
in the rendering. Displays “–––” when the XRef
object will be rendered and “Enabled” when the
proxy object will be rendered.
Prox y Na me—Name of the proxy object that w ill be
used as the XRef object.
Prox y Filena me—Name of the file that contains the
proxy object to use for the XRef object.
Prox y Path—Pa th of the file for the proxy object to
usefortheXRefobject.

In the
XRef Objects dialog (page 3–408)
,whenyou
right-click the upper list of file s or “records,” this
pop-up menu appears. It gives you some fur ther
options for managing the list.
Some of the options on this menu are unavailable
unless you have selected a record in the Files list.
Interfa ce
Create XR ef Record f r om File—Launches a file
dialogsoyoucanselectthesourcefileforyour
XRef record. When you a select a file, the
XRef
Merge dialog (page 3–416)
appears.
Remove XRef Record—Deletes the highlighted
XRef records after you confirm the action. All
entities associated with the highlighted records
are removed.
Note: Once you have removed an XRef record, you
cannot undo this action.
