2-sided rendering (page 3–995)
renders both sides of al l faces. Usually, you’ll want
to keep this option off to speed rendering time.
You might wa nt to turn it on if you need to render
the inside as well as the outside of objects, or if
you’ve imported complex geometry in which the
face normals are not properly unified. Default=off.
Advanced Lighting group
Use Advanced Lighting—When on, the software
incorporates a
radiosity solution (page 3–50)
or
light tracing (page 3–43)
in the rendering.
ComputeAdvanced Lighting WhenR equired—When
on, 3ds Max computes radiosity when required on
a per-frame basis.
Normally , when rendering a series of frames,
3ds Max calculates radiosity only for the first
frame.If,inananimation,itmightbenecessary
to recalculate the advanced lighting in subsequent
frames,turnthisoptionon. Forexample,a
brightly painted door mig ht open and affect the
coloringofanearbywhitewall,inwhichcasethe
advanced li ghting should be recalculated.
Render Output group
Save File—Saves the rendered panorama to disk.
This is unavailable until you have defined a file
name by clicking the Files button.
Files—Lets you specify the name, location, and file
type for the rendered panorama file.
R end er ed Fra me Wi n dow—Enables or disables the
panorama exporter’s rendering display.
Display V iewer—When on, the
Panorama Exporter
viewer (page 3–168)
opens upon rendering the
panoramic r endering.
ViewportChooses the camera viewpor t to render.
When you render a panorama, this drop-dow n list
shows only the cameras in the scene.
Render—Click to render the p anorama.
Can celClick to cancel the rendering.
Clo se Click to close the dialog, savi ng any
changes you’ve made.

The P anorama Exporter viewer lets y ou navigate
a rendered p anorama. You can use the viewer to
export the p anorama rendering w ith a cylindr ica l,
spherical, or QuickTime VR format.
Note: Exporting to QTVR format requires that
QuickTime® 5 or higher is installed on your
system. You can download the latest version from

ww.apple.com/quicktime/download.ForQTVR
export, you must choose the Recommended
Install rather than a custom or minimal
installation. In particular, your insta l lation must
include these components:
•QuickTimeAuthoring
•QuickTimeInternetExtras

Procedures
To navigate a rendered panor ama:
Hold down the left button to rotate the camera
around the p anorama.
If you move the mouse, the camera rotates
in that direction until you move the mouse
