mirrored UVs. If you are working w ith a character
that has mirrored UVs, we recommend that you
render only half the character to a texture.
For example, use a Mesh Select modifier to select
half the character, then add a Delete Mesh modifier
to remove it from projection. Add the Projection
modifier

projection relies on the low-res object having
standard normals, and altering them causes

dialog
Rendering to texture, or texture baking, is
controlled by this dialog. Most of this dialog’s
controls are contained in its rollouts.

To bake an objects texture:
There are a lot of options for rendering to textures.
Thesearethebasicoverallsteps.
1. Select an object.
Ideally, the object wi ll have a texture assigned
toit,orlightsandshadowsthatfallonit,and
so on.
2. Choose Rendering > Render To Texture.
3. Inthesamedialog,gototheOutputrollout.
4. Click Add, and in the Add Texture Elements
dialog, choose the element(s) you want to
render.
5. Set Target Map Slots, if necessary.
6. Click Render.

tofiles,andthebakedtextureisdisplayedin
shaded viewports.
To bak e the textur e of multiple objects:
1.
Set up the texture-baking parameters of each
object you want to bake. This corresponds to
steps 2 through 5 of the previous procedure.
2. In the Objects To Bake rollout, change Al l
Selected to All Prepared.
3. Click Render.
Textures are rendered for all the objects you
previously set up.
Interfa ce
Render—Renders the scene, or the elements listed
in the Objects To Bake rollout.
Unwra p Only Applies the Automatic Flatten UVs
modifier to all selected objects without rendering
anything.
