Move K eys (Dope Sheet)
Dope Sheet > Keys: Track V iew toolbar > Move Keys
Move Keys lets you reposition keys horizontally,
w ithin their own track(s), thus changing the times
at which they t a ke effect. If no keys are hig hlighted,
you can move any key by dragging it. If multiple
keys are highlighted, you can move them all the
same distance by dragging one of them.
Yo u c a n c l o n e h i g h l i g h t e d k e y s b y m o v i n g t h e m
while holding down the
Shif t key.
Note: YoucanuseanybuttonontheMoveKeys
flyout to move keys in Dope Sheet mode, but you
can move keys horizontally only.
Procedure
To move a s election of k ey s:
1. On the Keys: Dope Sheet toolbar, click
Move Keys if it isn’t already highlighted. It
should be on by default.
2. Highlight the keys you want to move in the
Keywindowbydraggingaselectionrectangle
around the keys. You ca n also use
Ct rl +click
to highlight non-contiguous keys.
3. P osition the mouse cursor over one of the
high lighted keys, and then drag horizontally to
move the keys in time.
Tip: Press SPACEBAR to lock the key selection.
Then you don’t have to drag over the selected
key, but anywhere in the viewport. This is
useful when you h ave a complex selection set
of keys.
Slide K eys
Track View > Highlight keys in the Key window. > Track
View toolba r > Slide Keys
Use Slide Keys to move a group of keys (highlighted
keys plus all the keys to one end of the animation).
The direction that you drag determines which
group of keys moves:
• Dragging to the right moves the highlighted
keys, plus all keys to the last key of the
animation, forward in time.
• Dragging to the lef t moves the highlighted keys,
plus all keys to the first key of the animation,
backward in t i me.
SlideKeysisawaytosplittheanimationatthe
highlighted keys and spread the end s apart. Slide
Keys is available in E dit Keys mode.
You can clone keys and inser t them elsew here in
your animation curve while offsetting existing
keysbythelengthoftimeoccupiedbythecloned
keys by dragging while holding down
Shif t .
Based on the length of your selection, the existing
keys to the right of the select ion move forward in
time (that is, to the ri ght) to allow the new key
insertion, whether you drag to the righ t or the left.
Procedure
To slide a selection of k eys:
1. Click Slide Keys on the Track View
toolbar .
2. Highlight one or more keys.
