Procedure
To drag the ranges and link ed descendants of an
obj ect:
1.
IntheDopeSheetEditor,
click Edit
Ranges.
Modify Subtree is on by default.
2. DragtheWorldrangebarortheObjectsrange
bar.
With Modify Subtree on, a range bar is
displayed in the Objec
ts branch. The Objects
branch is the default parent of all named objects
in the scene.
Drag ging a parent Objects range bar with
Modify Subtree on af
fects all tracks subordinate
to the object and all tracks of its linked
descendants.
Dragging the World range bar with Modify
Subtree on affects
all tracks in the scene,
including Sounds, Materials, and a ll t racks of
all objects.
3. Tu r n Mo dif y Su btree off.
The World range bar and the Objects range bar
are no longer ava
ilable. In this mode you can
affect the range of an individual object or track
without affecting its descendants.
Inter face
Modify Subtree (Edit K eys)—Edits
(cuts, pastes, or moves) keys in the parent track.
Anythingyoudotothekeysintheparentaltrack
affectsthechildkeysaswell.
Note: Adding keys only affects the current track.
Modify Subtree (Edit Range)—Affects
the tracks of a n object and all of its descendent
objects. When you edit the range of a parent
object, the child objects are also affected.

Track View - Dope Sheet > Options menu > Modify Child

Track View - Dope Sheet > Track View toolbar > Modify
Child Keys bu tton
Provides the ability to turn changes on and off
down the hierarchy when working in Dope Sheet
mode. Changesthatyouhavemadetoaparent
object can be added to the children by clicking
this toolbar button. Similarly, if you have made
changes with Modif y Subtree on, and you want
to remove the changes from the child ren, clicki ng
Modify Child Keys will remove those changes
from the children that you previously made to the
parent.
This tool is primar ily designed for use in Dope
Sheet Edit Ranges mo de.
Modif y Subtree a llows you to move, scale, edit
time,andsoon,onallsub-tracksforanyorall
tracks on a node. Modify Child Keys does the
same thing , but also extends to child nodes as well.
Modif y Subtree lets you edit t iming for an object
of subset of tracks on an object, while modify child
keys lets you edit the timing of an entire linked
structure, group, or character.
