1.
Animate two objects moving in the viewports.
Make the final keyframe for the objects frame

2. Open Track View — Dope Sheet.
3. On the Track View hierarchy, expand Global
Tracks, expand Block Control, and then selec t
Available.
Available is the track below the Block Control
track.
4. From the Track V iew toolbar, choose Controller
menu > Assign, select Master Block in the
dialog, and then click OK.
The Master Block P arameters dialog
automatically displays.
5. Click Add on the Master Block Parameters
dialog.
6. On the Tr ack View Pick dialog, expand t he
tracks for the two animated objects.
7. While holding down Ctr l ,clicktheX,Y,Z
Position tracks for both objects, and then click
OK.
8. On the Blo ck Parameters dialog, type a name
in the name field.
Choose a name that will remind you of the
animation in this block.
9. Set the End value to 10,andthenclickOK.
The Block will contain animation between
frame 0 and fr ame 10.
10. Click OK to close the Master Block Parameters
dialog.
The block has been created, and you can now
use it.
• Onceablockisadded,aslavecontroller
is added to the controllers on the original
tracks. This enables communication
between the track and the Block controller.
• With the Blend track (below the MasterBlock
track in the Track View hierarchy) you can
animate how much of the block anima tion
wi ll b e in effect. Negative values reverse the
animation.
• Controllers that each block uses are listed
under the block name. This allows you to
adjust the data for a particular block.
Exa mple continued: To use a block :
1.
IntheDopeSheetKeywindow,right-clickthe
MasterBlock track.
Apop-upmenudisplaysthenameofblocks
already created.
2. Selectthenameoftheblockyoucreatedearlier.
The Block is displayed in the Key window.
3. DragtheBlocktostartatframe20,andclick
Play.
The animation repeats at frame 20.
You can create a number of blocks for different
periodsofanobject’sanimation,andusethem
at different locations in the MasterBlock track.
To move an inserted block:
• In the K ey window, select the block and then
drag it left or right.
To scale (resize) an inserted block:
• Select the key at the lower left or right corner of
the block, and then drag left or ri ght.
To create a copy of a block :
•HolddownShif t , and draft the block.
This creates a new instance of the block, which
you can place at a different time.
