• Scale al l animation in the active time seg ment
to fit within a new time range.
• Move the entire animation to a new time.
Click Re-scale Time and then enter new Star t Time
and End Time values on the Re-scale Time dialog.
When you click OK all the animation in the active
time segment is moved and scaled to fit the new
Start Time and End Time sett ings. Any animation
outside the active time segment is moved to match
the new active time segment boundaries.
For example, say you hav e an animation from
frame 0 to frame 300 and an active time segment
start ing at frame 100 and ending at frame 200. Use
Re-scale Time to set the new Start Time to frame
200 and the new End Time to frame 250. Clicking
OK gives you the following result:

for ward 100 fr ames and shr in ks to a length of
50frames.Thenewactivetimesegmentisfrom
frames 200 to 250.
• Animation in the f rames prece ding the original
active time segment moves forward 100 frames
to connect to the start of the new active time
segment.
• Animation in the 100 f r ames after the original
active time segment moves forward 50 frames
to connect to the end of the new active time
segment.
You can also rescale the active time seg ment using
the track bar (page 3–703).
Moving Through Time
You can move to any time i n your active time
segment by using either the time slider (page
3–701),ortheCurrent Frame field (page 3–724) in
thetimecontrolsarea.Youcanalsomovethrough
time using the play back control buttons.
Using t he T ime S li der
The time slider shows you the current time, and
lets you move to any time in your active time
segment.
To change the cur rent time using the time slider, do
one of the fol lowing:
•Dragthetimeslider.
• Click in the empty track to either side of the
time slider.
• Click the increment arrows at either end of the
time slider.
When you click in the slider t rack, the time slider
jumps to the time where you clicked. This is
a faster method of moving through time than
dragging the time slider.
The time slider displays the current time, followed
by a slash (/), followed by the total time in the
active time segment. For example 25/100 means
frame 25 of 100 frames. The current time also
appears in the current time field. If your scene has
been animated, it’s played back in all viewports as
you drag the time slider .
Yo u c a n u s e t h e < and > keys on the keyboard to
advance the t i me slider a frame at a time. When
Key mode is on, this will advance to the next
keyframe.
Mov ing to a n Ex a ct T ime
The Current Time field always displays the current
time. You can also enter a time value and press
Enter to move to that time.
