In a camera viewport, the FOV button lets you
adjust the field of view interactively.
The camera viewport Perspective button also
changes the FOV in conjunction with dollying
the camera.
Note: On ly the FOV value is saved with the
camera. The focal length value is merely an
alternative way to express and select the FOV.
To s et the camera l ens size:
1.
In the Stock Lenses group, click a button to
choose a stock focal length.
2. Set the Lens spinner to a custom focal length.
Tip: If you want to maintain the same lens, avoid
using the FOV or Perspect ive controls among
the navigation icon buttons, and don’t change
the FOV spinner.
Impor tant: When a camera viewpor t is active,
changingtheOutputSizeor(custom)Aperture
Width in the Render Scene dialog (page 3–2) will
change the camera’s Lens setting.
To match a camera to a f ilm or video format:
1.
In the Render Scene dialog (page 3–2), choose
thetypeofoutputyouwant.
• If it’s a preset, choose the preset from the
Output Size drop-down list. The Aperture
Width will be locked to the preset’s values.
•Ifit’sCustom,youcansetyourown
ApertureWidth,andshoulddosoatthis
point. (You can adjust the other output
valuesatanylatertime.Theyhavenoaffect
on the camera lens settings, although they
do affect the cropping of the scene.)
2. Once the Aper ture Width is set, set the Lens
spinner to the type of camera lens you want to
emulate (for example, 50mm).
If you want to m aintain the same lens, avoid
using the FOV or Perspective controls among
the navigation icon buttons.
To find a lens’s focal length:
• Tofindthefocallengthofalensbasedon
changes in aperture width, display the Render
Scene dialog (page 3–2),chooseCustomfrom
theOutputSizedrop-downlist,andspecifya
value in the Aperture Width spinner. The new
value of the camera’s Lens spinner is b ased on
the new Aperture Width value.
To display a camera’s cone:
•TurnonShowCone.
The camera’s field-of-view cone appears
outlined in li ght blue.
Note: Acamera’sconeisalwaysvisiblewhile
the camera object is selected, regard less of the
Show Cone setting.
To display a camera’ s horizon line:
• TurnonShowHorizon.
A dark gray line appears at the level of the
horizoninthecamera’sviewport.
