Turning on Clones makes the Select O bjects To
Transform button unavailable. The object to clone
and cloning parameters must b e specified on the
Clone panel (page 2–1189).
Compute Positions/Rotations/Scales—Any options
in this column that are turned on when you click
the Scatter button cause the respective transforms
to be applied to the current selection (see Select
ObjectsToTransform,below)accordingtothe
settings in the Position panel (page 2–1190),
Rotation panel (page 2–1192),andScale panel
(page 2–1193).
Inc(rement) Seed Positions/R otations/S cales—Any
options in this column that a re tur n ed on cause the
respective Rand Seed settings to be incremented
by 1 each time you click the Scatter button.
Use this option to experiment with various
randomized transform combinations for your
clones.
S el e ct Ob j e cts t o Trans f orm Lets you designate
objects to be affected by clicking the Scatter button.
Clicking this button opens a version of the
Select dialog that ’s unique to Scatter Objects
functionality. If youve performed one or more
cloning operations during the current session, the
results of the most recent cloning are selected by
default, including the original cloned object. For
example, if you created 10 clones, 11 objects are
selected. You can use the Select dialog to alter or
replace this selection.
Note: The results of the most recent cloning
operation remain selected even if you close and
later reopen the Scatter Objects dialog.
Scatter—Performs any cloning and/or t ransforms
that are turned on.
OK Retains all changes and closes the dialog.

Dia log
This dialog appears when the software encounters
difficulty placing cloned objects without
overlapping using the Scatter Objects dialog (page
2–1189). The dialog text tells you how many
attempts the software has made to place a specific
object, and asks you if you want to try again.
Interfa ce
Try A gainClick this button to force the software
to make N more attempts, where N is set in the
How Many More Attempts field.
Sk ip This One—Instr ucts the s oftware to stop trying
to place the current object and proceed to the next.
Quit Tr y in g—AbortstheGenerateLocations
process; no more objects will be placed.
