Max Incline—
Specifies the maxim um number
of degrees a delegate can turn upward at any
given f rame. For example, most birds can’t fly
straight up, so you might set this to 45 for a bird.
Default=90.0.
Max Decline—Specifies the maximum number of
degreesadelegatecanturndownwardatanygiven
frame. Default=90.0.
For example, for a bird that can’t fly straight up but
can fly straight down, you might set to Max Incline
to 45 and Max Decline to 90.
Bankin g group
These p arameters affect the delegate’s banking
behavior; t hat is, how it tilts around its front-back
axis as it changes direction whi le moving. Bank ing
typically applies to objects moving in the air or on
water, but can a lso apply to ground-based objects
such as one- or two-wheeled vehicles.
Max B ank—Specifies the maximum number of
degrees a delegate can ban k. Default=30.0.
Max Bank Velocity—Specifies the maximum
number of degrees a delegate can bank per frame.
Default=3.0.
B ank per Turn—The number of degrees the delegate
w i ll bank as a function of the turn angle at the
current frame. For example, if Bank Per Turn=1,
the delegate will bank one degree for every deg ree
it is turning at a given frame. Default=1.0.
Biped group
Theseparametersrelatetotheuseofbipeds
associated with delegates. In order to have a
biped exhibit character animation as it follows
the delegate’s course, you must use motion flow
methods. For a procedure, see To u s e b i p eds in a
crowd simulation (page 2–1175).
Use Biped —Associates the delegate with a biped
(specifiedwiththeNonebutton),andcausesthe
delegate’s speed to be determined by that of the
biped’s existing motion. Its behavior (for examp le,
seeking a nother object) remai ns defined by a
crowd object.
Note: This button is not available until a biped is
designated via the None button.
None (la bel)—Click this button and then select a
bipedtobeassociatedwiththedelegate’smotion.
You can select a biped by clicking it in a viewport,
by clicking its center of mass object (e.g., bip01), or
w ith the S elect Object dialog, opened by clicking
the toolbar button Select By Name (you cannot use
theSelectionFloater).Thereafter,thenameofthe
biped object appears on the button.
Tip: When using the viewp ort, the mouse cursor
changes to a crosshairs when positioned over a
biped’s center of mass.
Start Frame—Specifies the frame at which the
biped’s first clip will begin to play.
