Sliding group
Skin sliding parameters control the amount of skin
slidingthatoccurswhenajointrotates.Without
skin sliding, vertices closest to the joint tend to
compressontheinsideandstretchapartonthe
outside, generally revealing the segments of the
mesh. Outside sliding causes t he vertices around
the joint to move toward the joint, preventing
localized stretching on the side that is greater than
180 degrees. Inside sliding causes the vertices
to relax and slip away from the joint, preventing
bunching of vertices on the side having an angle
less than 180 deg rees.
Tip: Use sliding for knees and elbows.
InsideAs values increase, skin moves away from
the joint. Range=0.0 to 1.0. Default=0.0 (no inside
sliding).
Outs ide—As values increase, skin moves toward
the joint. Range=0.0 to 1.0. Default=0.0 (no
outside sliding).
Above: Inside and Outside set to 0.0 (no sliding)
Below: Inside and Outside set to 0.25 (sliding creates a
smoother bend)
Fa llOff—As values increase, t he effect is locali zed
to the joint. Range=0.0 to 1.0. Default=0.5.
Radial Scale group
Radial Scale parameters expand or contract the
skin by scaling the radial distance perpendicular
to the link. They apply to any combination of
user-definable scale, bulge sett ings, or link length.
Tens ion—Values between 0.0 and 1.0 concentrate
the effect closer to the joint. The effect is closest to
thejointwhenTensionis0.0.Valuesgreaterthan
1.0 move the effect away from the joint. Range=0.0
to 2.0. Default=0.5.
