Dynamics Utility 671
Solve group
Update Displ ay w/ S olve—Displays each frame of
thesolutioninthewireframeviewportsduring
the calculations. This slows down the calculation
process.
Solve—Calculates the dynamics solution,
generating keys over the range of frames specified
in the Timing area. A prog ress bar appears in
the status/prompt line. Press ESC to c ancel the
calculation.
Note: You cannot undo the generation of a
dynamics simulation solution. If there ’s a chance
you mi ght want to restore t he scene to its st ate
prior to the solution, either
save (page 3–402)
the
scene or use
Hold (page 1–94)
before solving it.
Timing a nd Simulation rollout
Lets you specify the range included in the
calculation,howIKisincludedinthesimulation,
and what the air densit y is for the simulation.
Timing group
Controls how keys are generated over time.
Start Time—Specifies the first frame to generate
keys,whichisthefirstframetobeconsideredfor
the solution. Default=0.
Tip: If you set a start time that’s later than a
key frame-animated object’s last animation frame,
you may get unexpected motion during the
interim frames. For example, if you animate a
box’spositionfromframes0to10,andthenuse
theboxinadynamicssimulationthatstartsat
frame 20, the box will move between fr ames 10
and 20 because of the Bezier controller’s default
interpolation. To avoid this, before solving the
simulation, set the last animation keyframe ’s
Out tangent type to Linear or Step; see
