Assign Controller 525
Linear Controller (page 2–325)
:Makesthe
funct ion curves between each of the keyf r ames
into straig ht lines.
List Controller (page 2–326)
:Combines
controllers.
Link Constraint (page 2–386)
:Animatesthe
transfer of hierarchical links from one object to
another. You can, for example, have the same
object passed from object to object.
LookAt Constraint (page 2–388)
:Forcesthat
object to constantly look at another. Formerly
aTransformcontroller,thisisnowarotation
controller.
Master Point Controller (page 2–330)
:
Automatically assig ned when animating vertices,
control points, or vectors in sub-object mode.
This controller simplifies managing pote ntially
hundreds of tracks in Track View.
Motion C apture Controller (page 2–331)
: Controls
and records an object’s motion or parameter using
an external device. Supported devices are mouse,
keyboard, MIDI device, and joystick.
Noise Controller (page 2–337)
: Generates random
values, which you can see as pea ks and valleys in
the f unction curve.
On/Off Controller (page 2–339)
:Providesonand
off control.
Boolean Controller (page 2–310)
:Animproved
version of the On /Off Controller that allows
for adding keys without disr upt i ng the existing
keyframing.
Path Constraint (page 2–380)
: Assig ns a spline as
a trajectory (path) for an object so that the object
follows the path.
Position XYZ Controller (page 2–340)
:Splitsthe
X, Y, and Z components into three separate tracks.
PRS Transform C ontroller (page 2–341)
:Creates
subcontrollers for position, rotation, and scale.
Reaction Cont roller (p age 2–342)
:Allowsan
object or parameter to react to another object or
parameter. For example, you can change the scale
of one object based on the Z position of another
object.
Scale XYZ Cont roller (page 2–355)
:Provides
separate scale t racks for the X, Y, and Z axes.
Script Controller (page 2–356)
:Controlsobjects
and parameters with the 3ds Max scripting
language.
Spring Controller (page 2–359)
:Addssecondary
dynamics effects to any point or object position.
Smooth Rotation Controller (page 2–359)
:Creates
smooth rotations.
Surface Constraint (page 2–379)
:Positionsan
object along the surface of another object.
TCB Controller (page 2–361)
:ProvidesTension,
Continuity , and Bias controls for the function
curves between keys.
Transform Scr ipt Controller (page 2–364)
:
Provides scripted PRS control for objects.
Waveform Controller (page 2–366)
:Afloat
controller that provides regular, periodic
waveforms. For example, blinking lights and
rhythmic object motion.
Procedure
To assign an animation controller in Track View:
1.
In the Track View Hierarchy, select one or more
parameter items of the same type.
2. From the Controller menu, choose Assign.
3. Choo se a controller type from the Assig n
Cont roller dialog.
If a p arameter has a lready be en animated,
then assigning a new controller has one of the
following effects:
