To tur n a ngle s nap on:
ClickAngleSnapToggleontheMaintoolbar.
When turned on, angle snap affects all
rotational transforms.
To r otat e a n object a n ev en number of degr ees:
Turn on Angle Snap Toggle and rotate the
object.
The rotations take place in 5-degree increments
as a default.
To rotate an object a precise degree of rotation, do
one of the f ollowing:
Click Select And Rotate, then ri ght-click it to
display the
Transfor m Ty p e-In dialog (page
1–412)
. Enter the exact rotation you want.
Right-click Angle Snap Toggle and click the
Options tab on the dialog that is displayed.
SettheAnglevalueintheGeneralgroupto
the precise degree of rotation you need, then
rotate the object. Rotation snaps to the angle
increment you specified.
Inter face
The angle increment is set on the Options panel
of the
Grid and Snap Settings dialog (page 2–38)
.
Right-click the Angle Snap Toggle button to
display the Options panel of the Grid and Snap
Setti ngs dialog. The default is 5 de grees.

Main toolbar > Percent Snap Toggle
Keyboard > CTRL+SHIFT+P
Pe rcent Snap Toggle increments scaling of objects
by the specified percentage.
Interfa ce
The snap percent increment is set in the Grid And
Snap Settings dialog. The default is 10 percent.

display the
Grid and Snap Settings dialog (page
2–38)
.
This is a general-purpose snap system that applies
to any operation involving a percentage, such as
scaling or squashing.
Spi nner Sna p Toggl e
Main toolbar > Spinner Snap Toggle
Spinner Snap Toggle sets the single-click increment
or the decrement value for all of the spinners in
3ds Max.
Procedure
To s et a nd toggle spi nner s nap:
1.
Do one of the following:
Choose Customize menu > Preferences.
Right-click the Spinner Snap Toggle button
on the main toolbar .
Either method opens the Preference Settings
dialog > General panel. The two controls
for spinner snap are in the Spinners group
on this panel.
2. Set a value in the Snap field.
3. Turn on Use Snap.
When you exit the dialog, the Spinner Snap
Togg le button is turned on.
4. As you work, use the Spinner Snap Toggle
button to toggle the alternate setting.
