ChooseViews>Grids>ActivateHomeGrid.
•Deletethegridobject.
When you deactivate a grid object, any viewports
based on that grid switch to the corresponding
orthographic view. For example, a Grid (Front)
viewport becomes a F ront viewport. A Grid
(DisplayPlanes)viewportalwaysswitchestoTop
view, regard less of the currently displayed plane.

AutoGrid lets you automatically create, merge,
or impor t objects on the surface of other objects
by generating and activating a temporary
construc tion plane based on normals of the face
thatyouclick.Thisservesasamoreefficientway
ofstackingobjectsasyoucreatethem,rather
than building objects and then aligning them as a
separate step.
Note: IftheSmoothcheckboxisturnedoninthe
Parameters rollout of a parametric object, the
construc tion plane is placed tangent to the face of
the surface implied by any smooth ing present on
the surface, not the actual face of the surface.
Procedure
Ex ample: To create a box al igned to an other object
using a temporar y construction grid:

Create or load a scene containing an object to
whichyouwanttoalignanewbox.
2. OntheCreatepanel>Standard
Primitives > Object Type rollout, click Box.
