Pr ocedur es
To add noise to a material:
1.
In the Noise rollout, select On.
2. Adjust the three noise parameters to get an
effect you like.
To remove noise from a material:
•IntheNoiserollout,turnoffOn.
Noise is no longer applied to the map.
To animate t he noise ef fect:
1.
Turn on the Auto Key button.
2. Move to a non-zero frame.
3. In the N oise rollout, turn on Animate.
Bydefault,animationkeysaresetateitherend
of the active frame range.
4. Change the Phase value at different keyf rames.
Inter face
These controls appear on the Noise rollout for
many 2D maps:
On—Determines whether the Noise parameters
affect the map.
Amount—Sets the strength of the f ractal function,
expressed as a p ercentage. If the amount is 0 there
is no noise. If the amount is 100 the map becomes
pure noise. Default=1.0.
Level s Or iterations: the number of times the
function is applied. The effect of the level is
dependent on the Amount value. The stronger the
amount, the greater the effect of inc reasing the
Levels value. Range=1 to 10; Default=1.
Size—Sets the s ca le of the noise function relative
to geometry. At very small values, the noise effect
becomeswhitenoise. Atlargevalues,thescale
can exceed the scale of the geometr y, in which
case it has little or no effect. Range=0.001 to 100;
Default=1.0.
AnimateDetermines whether animation is on the
noise effect. This parameter must b e turned on if
you intend to animate the noise.
Phase—Controls the speed of the animation of the
noise function.
