Adjusting diffuse level
Procedure
To adjust the diffuse level:
• ChangethevalueofDiffuseLevel.
The material grows lighter or darker. Lowering
the Diffuse Level dims the material’s diffuse
color without affecting the sp ecular highlight.
Diffuse Level is intended pr imar i ly so you can
create a
map (page 2–1340)
that makes portions
of the material very dark.
Inter face
Diff use Level—Increasing this value increases
diffuse brightness, and decreasing it reduces

highlight. You can increase the diffuse level over
and above the diff use color’s Value (in its
HSV
description (page 3–1095)
). This parameter can
range from 0 to 400. Default=100.

Increasing the blending area between diffuse and ambient
with Roughness
Procedure
To adjust the roughness:
• Change the value of Roughness.
Increasing roughness makes the material have a
flatter, more matte appearance.
