The Multi-Layer shader is similar to the
Anisotropic shader (page 2–1321)
,butithasaset
of two specular highlig ht controls. The highlights
are layered, letting you create complex highlights
that are good for highly polished surfaces, special
effects, a nd so on.
Highlights in the Multi-Layer shader can be
anisotropic. Anisotropy measures the difference
between sizes of the highlight as seen from two
perpendicular directions. When anisotropy is
0, there is no difference at al l. The highlight is
circular, as in Blinn or Phong shading. When
anisotropy is 100, the d ifference is at its maximum.
In one direction the highlig ht is very sharp; in the
other direction it is controlled solely by Glossiness.

The Oren-Nayar-Blinn shader is a vari ant of the
Blinn shader (page 2–1321)
. It contains additional
"advanced diffuse" controls, Diffuse Level and
Roughness, that you can use to give the material a
matte effect. This shader is good for matte surfaces
suchasfabric,terra-cotta,andsoon.
Oren-Nayar-Blinn shading typically has a matte appearance.
