This button is available only when you are not
at the top level of a
compound material (page
3–1016)
,andthereismorethanonemapor
material at the current level.
A typical situation is one in which you have a
material with a Diffuse map, a Bump map, and a
Glossiness m ap. The Material level is the parent
and the Di ffuse map, Bump map, and Glossiness
map are its children. Go Forward To Sibling
becomes available at the level of the children and
allows you to go from one to another.

The Material/Map Navigator is a mo deless dialog
that provides quick navigation through the
hierarchy of
maps (page 3–1062)
in a
material
(page 3–1065)
, or of sub-materials in a
compound
material (page 3–1016)
.
TheNavigatordisplaysthematerialandmapsin
the currently active sample slot. You can navigate
the hierarchy of the current material by clicking the
material or map listed in the Navigator. Conversely,
as you navigate the material in the Material Editor,
the current level is high lighted in the Navigator.
The selected material or map b ecomes active in
the sample slot, while the rollouts for the selected
material or map are displayed below.
You can a lso drag from the Nav igator to any valid
sample slot or button in the user interface.
Use the view buttons at the top to change the
display. The list displayed in the Navigator is
similar to the one displayed in the Track View
hierarchy.
