New—
Listsonlynewatmospheresoreffects.
Existing—Lists only atmospheres or effects that
have b e en already assigned to the light.
Adding an existing atmosphere or effect creates
a new atmosphere or effect whose settings are
initially identical to the previous one.

The Hair Light Attr(ibutes) rollout appears only
for
spot lights
that you’ve explicitly added to the
hair simulation vi a the
Hair and Fur render effect
(page 3–216)
. It lets you adjust properties for the
hair shadow map generated by the spot light.
Note: By default,
Use all lights at render time
is
on, so all spot lights in the s cene can illuminate
hair, and, if set to cast shadows, will use their
ownshadow-mapsettingsforshadowscastfrom
thehair. Usethisrollouttosethair-specific
shadow-map values that differ from those used by
the spot light for other objects in the scen e.
These settings apply only to buffer-rendered hair
(the default type, set in the Hair and Fur render
effect).
Interfa ce
Light hair—When on, the spot light can illuminate
and cast shadows from the hair.
Note: The spot light must als o be set to cast
shadows (General Parameters rollout > Shadows >
On). For best results, use the Shadow Map shadow
type.
Resolution—Setsthesize(inpixelssquared)ofthe
shadow map that’s computed for the light.
The shadow map size specifies the amount of
subdivisions for the map. The higher the value,
themoredetailedthemapwillbe,butthemore
memory is required.
FuzzSets the softness of the shadow edges. See
Sample Range (page 3–1098)
.

Right: Fuzz=10.0
The arrow points to the shadow cast by the hair on the
underlying surface.
