Particles scatter when they strike a UDeflector object
The UDeflector is a universal deflector that lets
you use any object as a particle deflector.
Procedure
To create a UDeflector:
1.
On the Create panel,
click Space
Warps. Choose D eflec tors from the list, then
ontheObjectTyperollout,clickUDeflector.
2. In a view port, drag out a re c t angle to add a
UDeflector warp to
the scene.
3. On the command pane
l, click the Pick O bjec t
button and select an object to be a particle
deflector.
4. Apply the deflector to the particle system using
the appropriate m
ethod:
•Ifusing
Particle
Flow (p age 2–105)
,specify
the deflector in the
Collision test (p age
2–208)
or
Collision Spawn test (page 2–211)
parameters.
If using a
non-event-driven particle
system (page 2–233)
,
bind (page 2–54)
the
particle system to the deflector icon.
5. Position the UDeflector icon to interrupt the
part icle stream.
6. Adjust the UDeflector p ar ameters as necessary.
Interfa ce
Object-Based Deflector group
Specifiestheobjecttouseasadeflector.
Item—Displays the name of the selected object.
Pick Object—Click this, and then click any
renderable mesh object to be used as a deflector.
Par ticle Bounce group
BounceDetermines the speed w ith which
particlesbounceoffthedeflector. At1.0,the
particles bounce at the same speed as they
approach. At 0, they don’t deflect at all.
