9.5.2 Relays
Relays are electromechanical components that wear out with use.
It is possible to evaluate a relay's electrical endurance, expressed as its
number of cycles (one cycle = one activation and de-activation), depending
on its load and usage current. When such number of cycles is reached, it is
recommended to replace the board that includes the relay.
This replacement must be carried out by the Maintenance Technician and
prevents possible failure and dangerous situations (by way of example: failed
deactivation of a command when the corresponding actuator is released).
For AC loads, the relay's electrical endurance varies from a minimum of 10
4
cycles (at the maximum current and voltage indicated in the Technical Data
Sheet) to a maximum of 10
6
cycles (at 10% of the maximum current indicated
in the Technical Data Sheet).
For DC loads, the relay's guaranteed electrical endurance is equal to 10
4
cycles (at the maximum current and voltage indicated in the Technical Data
Sheet).
