Technical information

Introduction
Laceys.tv Cat.106 marks our 27th year in business. Thanks to
the support of professional installers we have grown into one of
Australia’s largest reception solution suppliers, contributing to
the delivery of stable Digital TV signals in many places.
Analogue switchover is in progress and within months most
television broadcasts in Australia will be Digital. Robust high
picture quality and wide screen Digital TV is now available to
everyone, with receiver prices in real terms that are similar to
the cost of an analogue TV ten years ago. Quality antennas
and signal distribution products remain important to ensure
that a receiver has as much threshold above drop out or
the cliff edge as possible, so that it will work reliably for the
longer term.
Shortly after the last analogue transmitters have been switched
off, an important wave of channel re-organization will
affect our industry. This is a result of the Government’s Digital
Dividend, where the channels from 52 to 69 have been sold for
Long Term Evolution or 4G communication use for devices like
smart phones. The new digital channels will be organized into
one of 5 new groups of adjacent channels, nationally. Details
of the plans can be downloaded from http://www.acma.gov.

of the list are the latest.
The television engineering community is concerned at the
potential for interference from such mobile computing devices
as they are wideband and relatively high power transmitters,
that will operate close to the remaining TV frequencies in
some places.
This is likely to create need for more selective or narrow
bandwidth antennas, an area where Laceys.tv has broad
experience with our friends Fracarro. In this catalogue
antennas for these new channel groups have been labelled
and colour coded to assist their identification.
Laceys.tv is working with our suppliers to deliver solutions to LTE
interference and hope to have more news of solutions to the
challenging filter requirement as the day gets closer.
