INSTRUCTIONS FOR FITTING
SPECIALISED WINDOW AWNING
1. Centralise the awning extrusion over the window and mark with a pencil
2. Wipe the side of the RV with methylated spirits where the awning is to be fitted to clean off all dust
and dirt. If the paint work or fibreglass panelling has oxidised and feels “powdery” give the surface
(directly behind where the awning is to be fitted) a light sand with 600 grit sand paper, then re-wipe
to ensure a clean surface.
3. Pre-drill the aluminium extrusion approximately 350mm apart
4. Apply sealant to the back of the aluminium extrusion making sure that there are no gaps
5. Place awning extrusion in pre-marked position on RV.
6. Drill the clearance holes into the RV ensuring you only go through the outer skin
7. Pop rivet into position and seal each rivet with a bead of sealant
a. Important: When choosing the pop rivets, please take into consideration the surface and sub-
surface of the wall of your RV eg you may have a fibreglass wall with 3mm ply behind, or an
aluminium wall with “ribs” behind. This will affect how long the pop rivets will need to be.
NB: For fibreglass walls it is preferable to use Peel Rivets.
8. Wipe off the excess sealant with methylated spirits
9. Attach the arms (making a point of the flat section on the base plate to be against the wall with the
swinging roller facing the ground). This will then allow the small aluminium plate on the end of the
bottom rail to lock in the pivoting arm.
10. Following procedures 7, 8 & 9 attach each arm. NB the “arrow” on the arm faces UP
