PERFORM PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE OF A STILL VIDEO SYSTEM

Conditions: In a tactical or garrison environment, given a still video camera with accessories
(transceiver, player, printer, cables, disk, battery charger, and battery pack or AC power adapter), color
TV monitor, contact cleaner, stiff brush, mild liquid detergent or glass cleaner, clean water, soft lens
brush, lens tissue, soft dry cloth, replacement ink cartridge and parts, manufacturers' manuals, DD Form
314, DA Form 2404, DA Form 2407, and DA Pam 738-750.
Standards: The standards are met when the camera is clean and fully operational.
Performance Measures Results
CAUTION: Do not clean with solvents such as alcohol or benzene that might damage the
finish.
1. Maintain a still video camera. P F
a. Clean the casing with a soft cloth dampened with a mild liquid detergent and clean
water. Remove residue with a soft, dry cloth.

b. Clean battery pack contacts with contact cleaner and a stiff brush. Recharge the
battery if necessary.

c. Clean the lens. P F
(1) Remove the lens from the mounting guides. P F
(2) Clean debris with a lens brush and moisture with lens tissue. P F
(3) Reconnect the lens on the mounting guides. P F
d. Replace broken or torn cables and connectors. P F
2. Maintain a still video printer. P F
a. Clean the casing with a soft cloth dampened with a mild liquid detergent and clean
water. Remove residue with a soft, dry cloth.

b. Check the ink cartridge for worn ribbon or cracked casing; replace if necessary. P F
c. Clean debris or moisture off printer parts with a soft brush and dry cloth. P F
d. Replace broken or torn cables and connectors. P F
3. Maintain a still video player. P F
a. Clean the casing with a soft cloth dampened with a mild liquid detergent and clean
water. Remove residue with a soft, dry cloth.

b. Replace broken or torn cables and connectors. P F
4. Operations check the still video camera. P F
a. Install a charged battery pack. P F
b. Load a disk for recording. P F
c. Check flash unit controls. P F
d. Connect camera to a color TV monitor with a video cable. P F
e. Turn ON power and press the RESET button. P F
f. Focus on a subject and touch the SHUTTER RELEASE button lightly. P F
g. Press down the SHUTTER RELEASE button completely for the recording to start.
The shutter speed and aperture value automatically adjust.

NOTE: If the particular unit has audio capability, record audio for up to 10 seconds.
h. Observe the still video picture on the TV monitor. P F
i. Produce a print to check the still video printer. P F
j. Operate the still video player. P F
k. Send and receive images with the still video transceiver. P F
5. Complete the necessary maintenance forms. P F
a. Annotate service performed on DD Form 314. P F
b. Document uncorrected faults and parts required on DA Form 2404; date and initial
the form if no problems exist.
