ANNOTATE CHANGES AND MODIFICATIONS TO PLANT AND PLACEMENT DRAWINGS

Conditions: In a tactical or garrison environment, given system block diagrams, three color pencils (red,
yellow, and blue), and a straightedge ruler.
Standards: The standards are met when changes and modifications are annotated on the plant and
placement drawings with all information accurately labeled.
Performance Measures Results
1. Annotate two copies of the drawings. P F
2. Apply appropriate colors over or circle the affected data (lines, components, numbers,
and text).

a. Mark data for deletion with the color yellow. P F
b. Add data with the color red. P F
c. Use the color blue for instructions to draftsmen and engineers. P F
3. Add new numbers to new lines by cross-referencing existing drawings to see what was
the last number used to label a cable.

4. Draw straight lines through lines where they intersect; do not use loops when crossing
lines.

5. Post changes to the Revision Block located in the upper right-hand corner. P F
a. Draw a line, about 1/4-inch wide and as long as the other lines, under the last line
of the block; also draw a line dividing the boxes.

b. Write the date (month/year) when the work was done in the Installed Date box. P F
c. Write the alphabetical change number in the Letter (LTR) box. P F
d. Write what was done and by what maintenance activity in the Description box.
This includes who did the changes, the equipment add-on, and update cabling.

e. Leave the Date box blank for the draftsman revising the drawing. P F
f. Leave the Approve box blank for the chief engineer's signature. P F
6. Forward one copy of the plant and placement drawing through the chief engineer for
the draftsman.

7. Retain one working copy of the drawing until the updated drawing returns from the
draftsman.

Evaluation Guidance: Score the soldier a GO if all steps are passed (P). Score the soldier a NO-GO if
any step is failed (F). If the soldier fails any step, show what was done wrong and how to do it correctly.
Have the soldier practice until he can correctly perform the task.
