INSPECT AN AUDIO TEST SIGNAL GENERATOR (ATSG)
113-575-5019
Conditions: In a tactical or garrison environment, given a 1510A Tape Recorder/Audio Test System (or
equivalent ATSG), audio amplifier, speakers, multimeter with test leads, electronic equipment tool kit,
manufacturers' manuals, DA Form 2404, DA Form 2407, and DA Pam 738-750.
Standards: The standards are met when the ATSG is fully operational with no deficiencies.
Performance Measures Results
WARNING: Do not operate equipment from a 2-wire, ungrounded power system or
through a 3-prong to 2-prong adapter.
CAUTION: Certain components are subject to damage by electrostatic voltages that can
occur during handling or probing.
1. Remove power from the ATSG. P F
2. Verify the grounding of the ATSG through the 3-wire power cable and plug to a proper
and reliable earth ground.
P F
3. Check fuses for continuity, either visually or by testing resistance with a multimeter. P F
4. Inspect the rear panel power input connector printed circuit board (PCB) for proper
installation.
P F
5. If the cooling fan filter appears dirty, remove for cleaning by pulling out the central
portion of the black plastic grill. Do not remove the four screws at the corner of the grill.
P F
6. Turn ON the ATSG power and press the SELF-CHECK mode. P F
NOTE: Application of any lubricant or contact cleaner to the permanently lubricated
pushbutton switches will shorten their operational life.
7. Set the output level to 2 V by using the FREQUENCY RESPONSE and OUTPUT
MONITOR buttons.
P F
8. Disconnect test leads from the input and output connectors. P F
9. Correct any performance measure as required, then press the SELF-CHECK button. P F
10. If the same or another FAILURE MODE legend appears, contact the manufacturer
customer service for assistance in correcting the problem.
P F
Evaluation Guidance: Score the soldier a GO if all steps are passed (P). Score the soldier a NO-GO if
any step is failed (F). If the soldier fails any step, show what was done wrong and how to do it correctly.
Have the soldier practice until he can correctly perform the task.
