17 Telephone Answering Machine
Settings made on the answering machine are played back vocally. Hinge the plastic
flap up above the Volume buttons in order to access the buttons , , , and
.
If the answering machine has already taken the call, you can stop the recording at
any time by pressing the Display button
. Then you can take the call by
pressing the Call button .
17.1 Setting the language
All the automatic, pre−recorded outgoing messages are available in German and
English.

17.2 Setting the time and day on the answering machine
The time and weekday on the answering machine should always be correct. The
answering machine assigns a time stamp to all incoming messages which is played
back before the respective message.
The time in the handset display is automatically updated.

17.3 Playing back the time and day on the answering machine
Press the button at any time to play back the weekday and time set on the
machine.
17.4 Switching the telephone answering machine on/off
If the answering machine is switched on, it takes the incoming call after a predefined
number of rings (refer to 17.5.3).
The LED for the answering machine on the base station lights up when the
answering machine is switched on.

Note: The answering machine can only record messages when there is sufficient
space available in the memory.
17.5 General settings
17.5.1 Maximum recording time
The answering machine can digitally save up to 60 incoming messages with a total
length of 16 minutes. The maximum length for each incoming call is 2 minutes. If the
caller’s message is longer, the call is disconnected. If there is a pause in excess of 8
seconds during recording, the call is automatically ended. When the memory capacity
for incoming messages is used up, no further messages are recorded. The caller
receives a message indicating that no messages can be left.
