tiptronic
8-speed automatic transmission with Dynamic Shift
Program (DSP), option of manual control via shift
paddles on the multifunction leather steering wheel;
includes additional sports program
quattro® with sports differential
permanent all-wheel drive with wheel-selective torque
distribution on the front wheels. The electronically
controlled sports differential distributes variable
amounts of driving force to each wheel and ensures
outstanding acceleration performance in corners and
stabilises the vehicle’s response to load change; it also
improves direct steering characteristics and provides
more agile handling due to the lower steering effort
required.
Start-stop system
helps to reduce fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions
by switching off the engine when standing, e.g. at
traffic lights. The start process is initiated as soon as
the foot brake is released for a perfect getaway. Can
be deactivated at any time via a button
Recuperation
Increasing the generator voltage converts kinetic energy
into usable electrical energy when the vehicle is coasting
or braking. This energy is then used to assist the
generator during subsequent acceleration, saving up to
3 % fuel.
Active Noise Cancellation
the Active Noise Cancellation system can compensate
noises from individual frequencies depending on the
engine speeds

innovative combination of materials, a high degree of
rigidity for enhanced handling and greater stability
side-on collision protection
consisting of bending-resistant door impact beams and
reinforced body side structure, particularly in the
B-pillars and sills
Airbags
2-stage deployment; front and rear side airbags
incorporated into the seat backrests; the head airbag
system unfolds along the entire length of the side
windows as a protective cushion and protects the
occupants in the front and outer rear seats in the event
of a side impact.

Integrated head restraint system
in the event of a rear-end collision, the design of the
seat restrains the upper torso and supports the head at
an early stage, thereby increasing safety and reducing

cruise control
maintains any speed above around 30 km/h, provided
engine power output and engine braking effect permit;
automatic braking function, e. g. when driving downhill;
operated via separate steering column stalk
Hold assist
holds the vehicle stationary for unlimited periods after
stopping on normal uphill and normal downhill
gradients. The system is activated by push-button and
allows the driver to drive away easily and comfortably
without having to operate the electromechanical parking
brake.
Suspension/brakes
Audi drive select
changes vehicle characteristics, e.g., by adapting power
steering assistance, accelerator and gearshift
characteristics, and (if ordered) adaptive air suspension;
modes available: comfort, auto, dynamic, efficiency and
individual. The system also influences other optional
equipment.
Dynamic steering
when changing lanes, parking and cornering, this system
improves comfort and handling by dynamically
regulating steering according to the driving situation.
In addition to adaptation of the steering effort, the
steering angle is also adapted (steering ratio). The
system is also supported further by vehicle stabilisation
through ESP.
adaptive air suspension sport
with S8-specific tuning
sports suspension based on the standard-fitted adaptive
air suspension; stiffer damping, vehicle ride height
lowered by up to 10 mm depending on mode; different
modes selected via Audi drive select
Ceramic brakes*
19-inch high-performance braking system with carbon-
fibre reinforced ceramic brake discs front and rear,
specially developed cooling channels for the ventilated
and perforated brake discs; high-gloss brake callipers,
