LED headlights
with the following elements in LED technology:
dipped beam, high beam, combined daytime running
light, position
light and indicator function in a single
light guide,
static turning light as well as all-weather
light and motorway light function; all-weather light
function to reduce the risk of the driver being
dazzled when visibility is poor (in fog, rain or snow),
the turning light supplements illumination alongside
the
vehicle in tight bends and when turning corners,
additional
motorway light which extends headlight
range
from a speed of approximately 110 km/h; LED
technology allows near daylight illumination of the
road for increased safety and comfort; low power
requirements, long service life and excellent recognition
by other road users thanks to the striking Audi lighting
pattern with daytime and night-time design. The
headlights also have different light distribution modes
which are activated depending on the vehicle speed:
motorway light and country light. In addition, these
light distribution modes are controlled by the vehicle
support system based on navigation data, and with
the aid of stored route data from the optional MMI
navigation plus
with MMI touch; in this configuration
the convenient functions of the lighting assistant are
supplemented by the junction light, which provides a
broad spread of light from the front lighting system,
and by the travel mode with GPS-assisted switching
between right- and left-hand drive modes; including

light identifies
the course of the road from the movement of the
steering wheel and variably illuminates bends by
pivoting the xenon headlights; operational between
speeds of approx. 10 km/h and 110 km/h. The
static
turning light automatically switches on if the
indicators have been engaged for a while at a low
vehicle
speed and illuminates the new direction in
which the vehicle is travelling. The
headlights also
have different light distribution patterns which
are
activated depending on the
vehicle speed: motorway
light and country light. In addition, Audi connect*
enables these light distribution patterns to be
controlled by the vehicle support based on navigation
data, and with the aid of stored route data from the

Variable headlight range control
The variable headlight range control system features a
camera on the interior mirror which registers sources
of light from other road users within system limits. The
range of the headlights is continuously varied between
dipped and high beam to suit ambient conditions,
ensuring that the headlights provide good visibility
without dazzling other road users.
