Audi TDI clean diesel
In addition to the standard equipment with catalytic
converter and diesel particulate filter, the new exhaust
aftertreatment system installed in the model with TDI
clean diesel leads to low exhaust emissions. Nitrogen
oxides are reduced by the innovative nitrogen oxide
catalytic converter (DeNOx catalytic converter) at the
end of the exhaust pipe. A pump injects tiny quantities
of the biologically degradable additive AdBlue®. This
solution then decomposes in the hot exhaust flow to
form ammonia, which splits the nitrogen oxides into
nitrogen and water. This splitting is called selective
catalytic reduction (SCR). Refill the separate AdBlue®
tank as indicated by the information in the display of
the instrument cluster. We recommend having the
AdBlue tank refilled by your Audi partner (about every
15,000 km).

Recuperation
With 6 and 8-cylinder models, increasing the
generator voltage converts kinetic energy into usable
electrical energy when the vehicle is coasting or
braking. This energy is used to assist the generator
during subsequent acceleration, saving up to 3 % fuel.
Start-stop system
reduces fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions by
switching off the engine when the vehicle is stationary,
e.g. at traffic lights. When you want to continue your
journey, you only have to release the foot brake: the
engine starts up again. The system is convenient, quiet
and fast. It can be deactivated at any time via a switch.
(Only for 3.0 TDI quattro 150 kW and 180 kW)
Body, galvanised
fully-galvanised in areas at risk from corrosion, unitary
construction, welded to the floor pan, front and rear
areas feature defined crumple zones. (12 year
guarantee against rust perforation)
Side impact protection
in the doors, comprises high-strength aluminium
impact bars, highly stress-resistant steel panel alloy
in the B-pillars for a controlled energy loss outside
Child-proof lock
mechanical for the rear doors and electric for the rear
window controls
